what qualifications do I need to be a Journalist?


Salaries start from around £12,000 for new local journalists, rising to £80,000 or more for top journalists in national news.
the working hours may vary the times may be from 8am to 4.30pm. journalist may get into different job opportunities such as presenters. war journalist.

Trainees can earn around £15,000 a year on local newspapers.
With experience salaries can from £20,000 to £30,000 a year.
More experienced, senior journalists can earn up to £50,000 or more.
Salaries for journalists on national newspapers may be higher.
Freelance journalists negotiate a set fee for each piece of work they do. Fees can be negotiated individually or in line with guidance provided by the NUJ.

visit to bbc newcastle

the people out of lvl 2 media went to visit bbc newcastle we were shown round the different places in the building we went in the news rooms, the radio rooms, and the library were they store the really old stories programs and films. incase they need to use some old footage then have it in a safe place.

we also had a presenter called colin briggs talk to us and he spoke about his career and other aspects of his job
